Abstract

The article examines the role of project assignments as aspects aimed at developing key competencies of students, such as critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, information management skills and teamwork, which contribute to the formation of functional literacy. The interrelation of the concepts «scientific competition», «scientific project», «project work», «project assignment» and their hierarchy is analyzed. The types of project assignments, their differences depending on the level of education, the specifics of project assignments at different levels, the structure of project assignments, and samples of project assignments in mathematics are also considered. In addition, the article presents the results of a survey on «Project assignments as a tool for developing students' functional literacy» conducted among mathematics teachers.
