This paper examines the impact of various methods for teaching reading on the academic performance of primary school students based on a secondary analysis of PIRLS-2021 data. The purpose of the analysis is to identify which methods and strategies of the educational process most contribute to the development of reading literacy of primary school students. This, in turn, will help to better understand what qualities and skills are needed for successful teaching and, consequently, adjust teacher training and professional development programs.
